{"id":16,"date":"2011-02-06T21:40:20","date_gmt":"2011-02-06T21:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/starbystar.net\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2025-03-20T23:16:30","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T23:16:30","slug":"four-sisters","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/starbystar.net\/?page_id=16","title":{"rendered":"Four Sisters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On March 28, 2010, four Detroit poets took to the microphone at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsleague.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Virgil Carr Center of the Michigan Arts League<\/a>: Melba Joyce Boyd, Marilynn Rashid, Hilda Vest, and Detroit&#8217;s Poet Laureate, Naomi Long Madgett.  The result (in addition to the delight of the audience) was a one-hour, eighteen-minute documentary chronicling the event, <em>Four Sisters (x2,+1)<\/em>, all a part of our effort to tell the story of Naomi Long Madgett.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a trailer for the film and if you watch the credits at the end you&#8217;ll have some idea of all the poems that are included:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/72009411\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The film is sold at two levels: $25 (plus tax and mailing) for individuals and $195 for institutions.
